What is an Inflatable Packer?

They function as a tool to assist in the isolation of boreholes.

For high-pressure injection in geotechnical applications, inflatable packers are employed to create leak-proof foundations inside rocks and other unstable terrain. In order to ensure the quality of foundations, they can also be used to test the bedrock.

When consolidating grout to make it impermeable and for other consolidation tasks, inflatable packers are used to inject cement into the grout. tested with lugeons as well.

Inflatable packers come in diameters of 1′′–2′′, 2′′–3′′, 3′′–4′′, 3′′–6′′, 4′′–7′′, and 5′′–8′′. Lengths range from 12′′ to at least five feet. They may expand by two times from their run-in diameter thanks to the sliding head design, and they often provide a longer seal than a mechanical packer. These packers contain built-in tube scrapers that operate each time the packer is deflated and remove extra grout that has clung to the exterior of the centre tube.
